Personal Website of Robert Hennings
Hello and welcome to my personal website. Here, in combination with GitHub, I am hosting some of my projects and other topics that I am currently working on. A lot is currently work-in-progress, so please don’t be confused if not everything here is working properly or already holds contents.
My Perspective
My personal goal is to understand todays financial markets holistically, meaning for me personally, who are the key participants, what motivates them to trade and what restrictions/other regulations and mechanics determine their activities in the complex interplay of nowadays financial system.
In order to at least try to answer my questions, I was very fortunate to gain insights into the operations of several, quite different market participants over the last years.
Combining theoretical aspects from research and academia with the practical real world lies at the heart of my approaches, what is the reason why I always tried to bridge these both worlds by working alongside my studies in these respective fields.
I was fortunate enough to do internships at the german centralbank, namely the Bundesbank, as well as the market itself, the Deutsche Börse Group, in the EUREX Product Design Unit. On top of that, I worked at various academic chairs, namely the chair of finance and the chair of marketing and trade of the university Duisburg-Essen, Campus Essen. Other academically related positions include the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, where I was able to support the LaTex Implementation of the new corporate design.
At the Data Science Branch of Statista (Statista Q), I learned a lot about data quality and the critical thinking of the basic input data for optimisations.
In my current role as a working student for data science topics at Vattenfall Energy Trading, I was able to further deepen my knowledge in my area of passion: energy trading.
